My Guiding Question

How do my memories become mnemonic from age seven to the present day? I chose to investigate how memories of my mom changed over time due to her chronic health condition. It is an investigation of memories from when I was younger and how those memories are blended with reality. As well as the falsehoods of my own mind paired with the way my mom is today. The exploration of the effects is represented in a montage of imagery meant to find a way to express the feelings those memories evoke, obvious and hidden, through the art of photography.

My focus began with my mother’s sickness and the fear of losing her, this changed as she prevailed, showing the wake left from her illness. using the companies ship of images 6-7, 9-10, 14-15, to show the fragments of me memories and how they stuck together in their own right. This allowed for the sadness to then finally have some space explain the haze around these memories. I experimented with different pictures of my mom from reenacting traumatic events, like leaning over the toilet. I revised pictures using different methods in the darkroom.
